Q1: I’m not Buddhist or Taoist. Can I still join?
Yes. The Zhongyuan Festival is a cultural festival that combines Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism. It is rooted in filial piety, charity and salvation. Regardless of religious background, as long as you are sincere, you are welcome to participate.
Q2: I don’t have specific ancestors to honour — can I still participate?
Absolutely. You can make offerings to all souls, wandering spirits, karmic debtors, or simply light a lamp for the living.
Q3: What information is needed to set up a memorial tablet?
You only need to provide the name of the person you want to pray for (it can be one or more people). If there are special notes (such as infant spirits, enemies, creditors, etc.), please note in your registration.
Q4: Can I set up a tablet or offer prayers for my foreign or non-Chinese relatives?
Yes. The ceremony is based on compassion and there is no distinction between race, religion, or nationality. Everyone can pray for the deceased.
Q5: Can I participate remotely?
No problem. There is an online registration for the ceremony. The memorial tablet and offerings will be arranged by the hall and chanted. You will receive a photo of the ceremony and a receipt.
Q6: I am not familiar with the ceremony. Will anyone contact me after I register?
Yes. After you register, we will confirm the details with you via phone or WhatsApp to ensure you feel comfortable participating.
Q7: Can I sign up for group offerings for my company, community, or clan association?
Yes. We can set up a dedicated prayer area, offerings and merit list for groups. Please contact us to discuss the arrangements.
